12 Days of Giving: Pediatric Therapy and Telehealth

When COVID-19 impacted our ability to deliver in-clinic services, Fraser quickly pivoted to provide critical treatment through telehealth services for more than 5,620 clients.

During a typical 12-week service period for Fraser Pediatric Therapy, telehealth services save the average family eight-and-a-half hours of travel time.

Fraser Pediatric Therapy offers services for children with motor and sensory dysfunction, decreased developmental and functional skills, speech and language issues, and feeding and swallowing difficulties. Services are individualized and based on the strengths and challenges of each child. Fraser therapists use a variety of specialized therapies and techniques to improve each child’s results.

Hear what Fraser client, Megan Hins, has to say about her family’s first experience with telehealth:

"Our daughter Lily, who has autism, was very excited to see her friend Noelle. Fraser diagnosed Lily with autism shortly before she turned 3, and she’s been seeing Noelle for occupational therapy since then. She really has fun with Noelle."

Your support for Fraser helps Lily connect with her therapists in the comfort of her own home!

"Like many kids with autism, Lily likes routines, but we’ve worked hard with her to be more flexible with her schedule. That being said, this has been quite an adjustment. She misses the stimuli she gets from going out and about, particularly the park across the street.

When we told her Lily would get to see Noelle over the phone, she was so excited. She stayed engaged for the full session. Since it was our first telehealth session, we worked with getting her comfortable with how it works and showing Noelle some of her favorite things.

When we put Lily to bed, she smiled and said, 'Today was great!' Lily lives a life with very few spoken words, so hearing this showed us how much she needed this.”
